Objectives
- To recognise the benefits of implemented innovative practices with evidence-
based impact on patient safety. - To demontrate that technology is not always needed and that patient safety can also be impacted by no-tech or low-tech approaches
- To promote exchange and mutual learning around those initiatives/projects.
Participation Rules
- Only individuals from healthcare organisations (hospitals, primary care settings, patient organisations, universities and schools,…) may submit a candidature
- Each individual can submit a maximum of two projects
- The projects/initiatives presented are based on a non-technological, low-tech or open source approach
- The projects/initiatives must have been implemented or at least tested in
healthcare settings - The project/initiative must not have already been the subject of a published
scientific paper, nor have been presented at another international patient safety meeting - The project or its deliverables are not protected by a commercial licence; the authors focus on the dissemination and further use of their innovative practice
- The project must be submitted in English
Submission process:
Each candidate will have to fill in the submission form and upload the project description (in an abstract form) of maximum 2 pages using the conference template. A maximum of 6 authors can be included.

Selection Process
- A committee of Patient Safety experts will evaluate the submitted project, using a pre-defined evaluation criteria.
- The evaluation criteria to be used will include: level of innovation, impact on
patient safety, level of involvement of healthcare professionals and/or patients, feasibility and replicability of the practice to other contexts and countries. - The committee’s decision on the acceptance or rejection of the project proposal will prevail.
Book Publication
All accepted projects will be published in the conference publication with ISBN, under the condition that at least one representative of the submitted project / initiative is registered to the conference.
2024 Award Session
Three finalists will be invited to present their projects at the 2024 Patient Safety Conference (5-7 min max). The audience will decide about the ranking through the interactive voting at the end of the session.
Winner session
1st place winner will receive dedicated 30 minutes session to present the project in detail during the 2024 Patient Safety Conference.
